Stories from Western China is based on a field research project by Confucius Institute Director Kun Shi in Xinjiang and Tibetan areas conducted in June 2012 . Known for their fascinating cultures and environments, Tibet and Xinjiang are among the most interesting places in China. This lecture will provide basic information about the peoples in these two regions and a brief summary of the socio-political challenges facing them today. The speaker will engage the audience in dialogues that may help better understand the peoples in Western China.
