Title: "Where Do "We" Belong? : Emotional Traces of Nation-ization in Turkey (1923-1980)"
Date: Mon. Nov 17, 2014
Time: 12:30 PM - 12:00 AM
Description:

Dr. Adar explores perceptions of political belonging that nation-building processes generated for non-Muslim minorities in Turkey between 1923-1980. She argues that the predicament of non-Muslims, during this period, between legal inclusion as minority citizens and exclusion from the nation as foreigners left them in a liminal space of hope and anxiety leading toward their increasing emigration especially since the 1960s.
