The Confucius Institute (CI) Scholarship program offers financial support for Florida students to spend one semester or one academic year in China. The scholarship is open to students majoring/minoring in Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy. Qualified students can also apply for the two-year Master's degree program in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.

The CI Scholarship is provided by China's Office of Chinese Language Council International or Hanban through the USF Confucius Institute. The scholarship provides a full tuition waiver, room and board, and a monthly stipend for one semester or one academic year at our partner Qingdao University or other selected universities in China. Basic requirements include taking and passing the written and speaking Chinese Proficiency Tests: HSK and HSKK. (More information at http://global.usf.edu/confucius/scholarship.php) The online application for CI Scholarship is now available at http://cis.chinese.cn, which has more information about selection requirements, scholarship benefits and a list of selected universities. The deadline to submit application for the 2015-16 academic year is May 10 (Sunday), 2015. The Confucius Institute will then review the completed online applications and provide a recommendation letter for each eligible applicant. CI Scholarship awardees list can be accessed at http://cis.chinese.cn after June 15.
