Date: Thu. May 07, 2015
Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Description:

Fulbright CORE Scholar Awards can be for teaching only, for research only, or for both teaching and research.  Some are for Distinguished Chairs, while others are for Early Career Scholars.  There are more than 800 possible awards to 120 countries; approximately 1200 grants per year.  It also is possible to do a FLEX  grant, which is for 2 to 3 months across 2 to 3 years. Come to hear strategies for making your application successful from a panel of former Fulbright CORE Scholars who have served on the Interdisciplinary Review Panel in Washington DC .  Panel members include:

Dr. John Daly is an Associate Professor and has served as the Director of Public Affairs at USF.  Dr. Daly was selected as a Fulbright Senior Scholar twice .  He served as a technical consultant and then professor in the Kingdom of Swaziland.  Dr. Daly then gave back to the Fulbright Program by serving for 3 years on Fulbright Southern Africa Peer Review Committee.  In addition, Dr. Daly was selected for the Fulbright Senior Specialist  Advisory Board from 2001 to 2004.

Dr. Linda Lucas is the Assistant Dean in the Honors College.  Dr. Lucas has held Fulbright  Professorships in Mexico City and  in Kampala, Uganda.  Dr. Lucas also served on the Fulbright Review Panel in Washington DC and says she loves working with scholarship applicants.

Dr. Darlene DeMarie is an Associate Professor in the College of Education and serves as USF's Fulbright Faculty Advisor.  Dr. DeMarie was a former Fulbright CORE Scholar in South Africa from 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.  Dr. DeMarie also served on the Review Panels for Southern Africa that convened in Washington DC in 2010, 2011, and 2012 and on the Review Panels that convened at the American Embassy in South Africa in 2008 and 2009.
