Duanwu Festival, also known as Dragon Boat Festival, is a traditional and statutory holiday in Mainland China and Taiwan. It is also celebrated in Singapore and Malaysia. It falls on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar, hence the name "Double Fifth" festival. The festival is in memory of the famous poet from more than two thousand years ago, Qu Yuan. The focus of the celebration includes eating zongzi (rice dumplings) and racing dragon boats. During the event on June 19 (Friday, 12:00-1:00pm), we will share this ancient story with you and distribute memorable items for participants.
