Title: CI Lecture: Notes on a New Chinese Landscape (by Prof. Elisabeth Condon)
Date: Tue. Mar 01, 2016
Time: 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Description:

This public lecture is based on interviews of Chinese artists by artist and former USF professor Elisabeth Condon. She interviewed five artists born after China’s one-child policy (1980) to see how their thought and aesthetics determine a new Chinese landscape. In this presentation Prof. Condon will share what she learned about their works and ideas. The interviews were published by the ArtFile Magazine and PlaySpace Magazine.

The interviews were conducted by Prof. Condon in 2014 during her six-month residence and research in Shanghai. The five Chinese young artists interviewed are WANG Xin, LU Zhengyuan, GAO Lei, ZHAO Yiqian, and BI Rongrong. The research was supported by the Confucius China Studies Program’s Understanding China Fellowship with assistance by the USF Confucius Institute and Nanjing University in China.

The lecture is co-sponsored by the USF Confucius Institute and the School of Art & Art History.
