Title: CI Lecture Series: The Same but Different - Ornaments on Chinese Clothing

Chinese ornaments on clothing, an essential part of the constitution of our costumes over the past thousands of years. Like ornaments on clothing of other cultures, ornaments on Chinese clothing serve the similar ornamental function, but also reflect much different Chinese unique connotation and wishes related to religion, power, and etiquette. 

This lecture intends to display some common Chinese ornamental patterns popular since ancient times by exploring the originations, characteristics and applications with fascinating words and vivid illustrations

Jingping Du is a professor in English teaching and learning from our partner Qingdao University, China and now serves as associate Director of Confucius Institute at USF. One of her current research interests is Cross-Cultural Communication.
