Description: Luis Ortega, member of Maria Zambrano's Foundation and editor of Revista Antigona, will discuss Maria Zambrano's journalistic work on October 20th from 3-5 pm in the Grace Allen Room. Maria Zambrano, (Velez-Malaga 1904-1991), Spaniard philosopher belongs to the fist generation of women joining the Spanish University during the 20s. Besides her significant contribution to Philosophy through her innovative concept of "razon poetica" (poetic reason, she cultivates a combative journalism that engages in the direct criticism of the Franco disctatorship as well as oppressive conditions that were suffering women and the working class of Spain in that epoch. She will plead for a type of intellectual that accepts his/her social and political role in the society.
