Description: Dr. Milagros Pena, professor of Social Studies and Women's Studies, and the Associate Dean of Behavioral and Social Sciences at USF, is renowned for her book 'Latina Activists Across Borders: Grassroots Women's Organizing in Mexico and Texas'. Dr. Pena will discuss the political opportunities that are gradually emerging in growing communities. The event is a part of International Education Week 2011 and is sponsored by the Migration and Diaspora Research Cluster of the Institute for the Study of Latin America and the Caribbean (ISLAC), the USF Latin Student Association and the department of Sociology.
