The USF Confucius Institute is a partnership between USF and Qingdao University. It is one of over 400 Confucius Institutes worldwide. USF is the first university in Florida and the first major public research university in the Southeastern United States to establish a Confucius Institute in early 2008.

The USF Confucius Institute provides

    • Academic support to the USF Chinese language program and other related disciplines;
    • Community engagement in Tampa Bay to promote cross-cultural understanding through cultural performance and CI Lectures;
    • Outreach to K-12 schools to improve and expand Chinese language programs; and
    • Help to create a statewide network on educational initiatives related to Chinese language, tourism, trade, and sustainable healthy communities.
