About the Florida-France Linkage Institute L'Institut Floride-France

The Florida-France Linkage Institute was established in 1989 and is one of eleven Florida binational Institutes created by the Florida Legislature to promote business, educational, cultural, and scientific exchange between Florida and other nations and regions of the world. France is a major trading partner with Florida and has growing business and investment interests in the State. Similarily, Florida seeks new opportunities for business in France.

The Florida-France Linkage Institute serves a multitude of interest groups in Florida and France by providing opportunities for education and training as well as for activites related to trade and business promotion, cooperative research and mutual technical assistance as well as educational and cultural exchange.

The Florida-France Linkage Institute is governed by an advisory committee made up of representatives from the academic, private, and public sectors. Institute directors in Florida are Dr. Joan Cassels of the Florida State University, Dr. Christine Probes of the University of South Florida, and April Burriss of Miami-Dade Community College. The Consulate General of France and the French Cultural Services in Miami were instrumental in the creation of the Florida-France Institute and have lent strong and continuous support to its initiatives and activities.

The Florida-France Linkage Institute links the resources of Florida's eleven public universities and twenty-eight community and junior colleges with those of state government and businesses to forge a network of partnerships with French educational, governmental, and private sector institutions.
