International Student, Delia Joseph, Praised at Fall Commencement

Delia JosephDuring the Fall 2006 Commencement ceremony, President Genshaft relayed the inspirational story of international student Delia Joseph. In her commencement address, she stated:

“Delia came to the U.S. from the Commonwealth of Dominica in 1999 with her two children.  She received her bachelor’s from USF in 2003 and started work as a substitute teacher.  That experience led her back to get her master’s degree.  Delia speaks of being busy with work, child-rearing, being a spouse, and going to school.  As she says, “I want to make a difference and thanks to my USF faculty I feel equipped to face the world.”  Indeed she is and lucky are the special education students who will have Delia as their teacher and inspiration.  Today Delia’s three children, husband, and family friends are here to celebrate with her.  Congratulations.”

International Affairs cheers Delia’s accomplishments and wishes her the best in her future endeavors!
