Rajesh Verma’s Principles of Ayurveda

Dr. Verma is an Ayurvedic specialist from Gujarat, India with proficiency and advanced training in Naturopathy and Homeopathy (BAMS, DHMS and ND). He discussed India’s ancient science of health and offered commentaries on various sleeping disorders, balanced diet, meditation and pranayama, as well as on therapeutic strategies for specific ailments.


Center for India Studies and Swaralaya Present: A Vocal Concert by Sangeetha Sivakumar

Carnatic Music Vocalist Sangeetha Sivakumar gave a well–received performance at the USF College of Public Health Auditorium. She was accompanied by Akkarai Subhalakshmi on violin and Melakaveri Balaji on the mridangam. She was an upholder of the G.N.Balasubramaniam bani and a disciple of famous vocalist Smt. Charumathi.


Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar Live in Concert

Vocalist Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar, a senior disciple of the legendary vocalist Ganasaraswati Smt. Kishoriji Amonkar, performed at the Patel Center Auditorium. He is considered the torch bearer of Jaipur Gharana.
In this concert, co-sponsored by Swaradhana, Raghunandanji also presented light semi-classical Hindi Bhajans, Natya Sangeet, and Bhavgeet. Raghunandanji was accompanied by Bharat Kamat on tabla and Niranjan Lele on harmonium.


Heartbeat Ensemble

Center for India Studies in association with Swaralaya presented “The Heartbeat Ensemble” a dynamic percussion group led by Dr. ‘Ghatam’ Karthick, also renowned for the art of verbal percussion (Konnakol).

The performers included: Dr. Ghatam Karthick – Ghatam, Konnakol Vocal, Embar Kannan, Silent Violin, Poongulam Subramanian, Mridangam, Keyboard, Sathya – Keyboard, BS Arunkumar – Shree Sundar – Kanjira. The group’s lively improvisation thrilled the audience.
