USF Celebrates International Education Week 2010
November 10, 2010

A joint initiative between the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to bring awareness to the significance of international exchange and education between institutions and countries worldwide, International Education Week is part of USF’s charter toward creating a more global university.

From November 15 – 19, International Education Week at USF will showcase activities from academic lectures to theatrical performances. The International Education Week calendar will include events such as an artistic exhibition of Cuban architect Carlos Garaicoa’s work hosted by the Contemporary Arts Museum and the 2010 International Photo Competition Winners Reception.

In celebration of the week, Student Government in collaboration with multiple departments across campus will organize International Fest. USF’s first annual International Festival will take place November 18, 2010 from 11am to 3pm at the USF Quad. The event is modeled to be similar to Epcot’s World showcase at home in the USF quad. Organizations will host booths to represent certain countries from around the world. In addition to the booths, there will be an outdoor art gallery, stage with international performances, and music.

The Arts College presents a theater-dance project that is co-created & co-directed by Professors Fanni Green and Jeanne Travers focusing on the genocide in Darfur. The piece is inspired by the artwork of Darfur children in refugee camps, and the interviews of their mothers and other women, conducted by British journalist, Rebecca Tinsley.
