USF New Year of the Dragon Celebration a Great Success

On January 24th, more than 500 USF students and faculty as well as Tampa Bay community members participated in the Chinese New Year celebration. This is the largest event of its kind on campus. All guests are happy with the food and performances, including USF student talent shows, dancers from My Bright Dream Group, martial arts from the Mt. Song Martial Arts Academy, and artists of traditional music and jazz. (Read More…)

Second Annual Conference on K-16 Chinese Conference to be hosted on February 24, 2012

The University of South Florida is to host the second annual conference on K-16 Chinese on February 24(Friday), 9:30am to 4:00pm. This time, Asia Society will join us as a co-host, bringing teachers from its network schools in more than twenty states. The conference is designed to help teachers and administrators to develop and sustain Chinese language programs from K-12 to college. It will provide professional development to current and future Chinese language teachers. The program includes General Sessions in the morning, and two breakout sessions in the afternoon.

Nanjing University Orchestra to Perform at USF on February 5, 2012

USF-CI will host the Nanjing University (China) Orchestra on February 5th (Sunday, 7:00-8:30pm) at MSC Oval Theater). The 24-member orchestra will perform various kinds of Chinese traditional instruments. Two artists will also demonstrate Chinese painting and calligraphy. USF-CI Hosted a Show by 20 Performing Artists from China on November 21st

A performing troupe from Xuzhou Normal University (XNU) from China presented a superb show to the USF and Tampa community members on November 21st, in Theatre 1 of the USF College of The Arts. Although most of the performers were students majoring in dance and music, their performance was professional and very impressive, as demonstrated by the photos below. (Read More…)

CI Class on Chinese Civilization for Senior Citizens Successfully Completed
