International Student Enrollment Sees All Time High
September 7, 2011
International Services, the main administrative and immigration advising office for USF, reports an all time high in international student enrollment. USF’s focus on increasing the international student headcount is paying off, the Tampa campus saw a 20% increase over last year bringing the total enrollment number to 1,745. This includes the traditional mix of undergrads, masters, and doctorial students as well as exchange students, non-degree students and INTO Pathways students.
USF has also seen a shift in the countries the students represent. Traditionally the majority of students come from India, but this year USF has more students from China. Associate Vice President for Global Affairs, Dr. Maria Crummett notes this is a national trend. “Data from the Open Doors report in 2010 shows that USF remains on par with national enrollment numbers, China and India are the top two countries represented in the U.S.”
The Colleges of Engineering and Business see the majority of international students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Additionally the bulk of students take courses at the Tampa campus.
