December 9, 2011

The University of South Florida is to host the second annual conference on K-16 Chinese on February 24(Friday), 9:30am to 4:00pm. This time, Asia Society will join us as a co-host, bringing teachers from its network schools in more than twenty states. The conference is designed to help teachers and administrators to develop and sustain Chinese language programs from K-12 to college. It will provide professional development to current and future Chinese language teachers. The program includes General Sessions in the morning, and two breakout sessions in the afternoon.

There is no registration fee to eligible participants: Chinese language teachers and school administrators (superintendents, principals, school masters, curriculum and/or foreign language coordinators). Thanks to funding from Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters, free lunch and soft drinks will be provided. However, attendees are responsible for purchasing the appropriate parking permits.

Location and Parking:
All sessions of the conference will be held on the first floor of the Patel Building on the USF Tampa campus. Parking is available around the Sun Dome north of the Patel Building (towards southeast corner on the parking map at (Parking Map). If you plan to come to Tampa the day before, Wingate by Wyndham Tampa (http://www.wingatetampa.com/) is located only a few minutes away from the conference site.

Online Registration:
Online registration will close on February 15 (or when the auditorium seating capacity is reached). Confirmation and the final program will be sent to all eligible registered participants by e-mail on February 20 (Monday). All participants will attend the General Sessions, but you must choose one of the two breakout sessions on the form.

The conference is open to the first 150 registered participants, so please complete the online registration form at your earliest convenience. If you have any questions, please contact us at Chinese@usf.edu.
