WUSF Highlights 2011 International Fest
December 14, 2011

WUSF University Beat’s Mark Schreiner caught up with organizers at the 2011 International Fest held at the USF Tampa campus in November. An annual event, the 2011 International Fest is hosted as part of International Education week and draws out students and faculty in large numbers every year.

Schreiner says the event makes USF look like the United Nations, an accurate comparison. International Fest is a platform for multi-cultural student organizations, Education Abroad, Peace Corps and the office of Multicultural Affairs among several other global initiatives at USF to interact with students and give them a world perspective in their own backyard.

In an interview with WUSF, Associate Vice President for Global Affairs at USF World, Dr. Maria Crummett emphasizes the importance of students being the brains and the hands behind the event. “It’s their initiative, they know who they are. They recognize and value the friendships and what it means outside of the classroom.”
