USF faculty and graduate students are invited to apply for research and curriculum development monies to fund those working on European Union issues.

Research Awards for Faculty & Advanced Graduate Students Working on European Union Issues

The Miami-Florida European Union Center of Excellence is pleased to announce the availability of research awards for faculty and advanced graduate students working on European Union issues.

Faculty Research Award
One faculty research award of 3,000 Euros is available for research related to the European Union. All full-time faculty are eligible to apply and the research must be completed by August 31, 2012. The award may be used for any research related purpose, including travel, research assistance, data acquisition, and the like.

Graduate Student Doctoral Research Award
One graduate doctoral research awards of 2,000 Euros is available for research related to the European Union. Graduate students who have successfully defended doctoral dissertation proposals are eligible to apply and the research must be completed by August 31, 2012. The award may be used for any research related purpose, including travel, fieldwork, data acquisition, and the like.

Application Deadline: January 16, 2012 Extended to January 31, 2012

  • Proposals should be no more than three pages (double-spaced) with details of the research plan, and separately a proposed budget.
  • Full-time faculty at the following institutions are eligible to apply:
    Florida International University (FIU)
    University of Central Florida (UCF)
    Florida Atlantic University (FAU)
    University of South Florida (USF)
    University of North Florida (UNF)

Faculty Curriculum Development Awards

The Miami-Florida European Union Center of Excellence seeks proposals for curriculum development awards to enhance the study of the European Union by creating EU-focused courses or infusing knowledge of the EU into university curricula.

Activities funded:
We are particularly interested in broad-impact proposals including, but not limited to:
 - Teaching workshops for faculty in professional schools,
 - The production of pedagogical materials in support of efforts to internationalize curricula,
 - Faculty learning communities,
 - Administrative reviews identifying and implementing the cross-listing of courses with EU content.

In addition, we fund faculty efforts to create new courses on the European Union or infuse existing courses with at least 50 percent EU content.

Application Deadline: January 16, 2012 Extended to January 31, 2012

  • Proposals should be no more than 800 words including a budget.
  • Full-time faculty at the following institutions are eligible to apply:
    Florida International University (FIU)
    University of Central Florida (UCF)
    Florida Atlantic University (FAU)
    University of South Florida (USF)
    University of North Florida (UNF)
  • Two Faculty Curriculum Development Awards of 1,500 Euros
