Taking Off to An Eventful 2012
February 14, 2012

The USF Confucius Institute has kicked off 2012 with celebration, performance and community outreach. Hosting one of the largest New year celebrations USF has ever seen, the CI also invited the Nanjing University Traditional Instruments Orchestra from China to perform for a USF audience. Working with numerous organizations and K-12 schools, the institute is taking every measure to promote the study of Chinese language and culture, and to implement cross-cultural exchange. In addition to its own events on the USF campus, the institute also co-sponsored the Chinese New Year event by Tampa Bay Chinese community groups on January 22nd at the Blake High School Auditorium. The CI also established a network with the local Chinese American Chamber of Commerce at its Chinese New Year event. The CI reached more than 3000 people during the two-week period, not including the festival organized by the Tampa Bay Chinese communities.
