Delegates from Qingdao University, China were at the University of South Florida onTuesday, July 24, 2012 to sign a collaborative agreement that will benefit USF faculty interested in pursuing research projects in China and students looking to gain language skills and cross-cultural understanding.
Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, the delegation attended a luncheon where they met with department deans and higher administration at USF. At the luncheon, USF representatives gave a brief presentation of USF’s academic accomplishments and international outreach.
Both USF and Qingdao expressed a clear understanding that the institutions’ collective ambitions are in agreement with their long-term goals.
Associate Vice President for Global Academic Programs Dr. Roger Brindley is eager to see Qingdao and USF build a future together. “Our visit from Qingdao University was so gratifying because there are a number of academic areas where there is substantial potential for collaboration. Conversations were collegial and enthusiastic; USF World is most grateful to the college representatives who made this visit so successful. In addition, the city of Qingdao, situated on the coast, has many similarities to Tampa Bay and the possibilities of broader community engagement are intriguing,” he said.
