USF Celebrates the 2012 International Festival in Spirit of International Education Week
November 16, 2012
Student organizations, University departments, and local businesses gathered at the Martin Luther King Plaza on Thursday, November 15, 2012 to celebrate the 2012 International Festival. The festival highlighted four distinct cultural regions, including the Americas, Asia, Europe, and The Middle East/Africa. Several hundred students came out to the third annual festival to hear international music, participate in traditional games and entertainment, and try foods from the various regions, provided by local vendors.
The attendees of the International Festival carried “passports” that were stamped as they visited each organization’s table, learning about the unique culture of the represented countries. Kicking off the event was the traditional Parade of Flags. The Herd of Thunder led the celebration, as students marched through the festival, carrying the flag of their home country. A slideshow of the parade and other festival activities can be viewed here.
The festival was hosted by INTO USF, Multicultural Affairs, and USF World.
