April 22, 2010
Victor Florez, a sophomore at USF in his second year of the Chinese language program at USF won the 2010 “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College and High School Students in Houston. Eighteen college and middle school students from the Southern United States took part in the contest. The contest was divided into three parts: a speech, a Chinese culture quiz, and a talent show. Contestants told the audience about their experience learning the Chinese language and their understanding of Chinese culture. During the talent show, they sang Chinese songs, played traditional Chinese instruments, and performed kungfu. Victor will now compete in semi-finals and finals of the 9th “Chinese Bridge” for Foreign College Students to be held in China.
