International Students Granted In-State Tuition through Florida Linkage Institutes
July 21, 2014

The University of South Florida is one of 38 public universities that participate in the Florida Linkage Institute program. This program awards a tuition waiver to qualifying students from partner nations, granting them in-state tuition at any public higher education institution in the state. Partner nations include: France, Brazil, China, Israel, and Japan among others. The Florida Linkage Institutes were created by the Florida legislature to develop stronger economic and educational ties between the state and specific countries.

Each institute has specific requirements international students must meet to be eligible to receive the waiver. USF is responsible for handling applications for all French students who apply for the Florida-France Linkage program. These students must be a citizen of France, have a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and be officially registered for class in a public higher education institution in Florida in order to be considered. So far this year, 34 undergraduate students and 4 graduate students received tuition waivers through the Florida-France Linkage program.
