HSK(K) and YCT Chinese Proficiency Tests at USF
April 12, 2017

Last month the USF World Confucius Institute (CI) administered the spring semester Chinese language proficiency tests at USF (HSK for adults and HSKK a speaking test) and Pine View School (YCT for K-12 students). A total of 57 people registered and took the tests, including 10 for HSK(K) and 47 for YCT. With the help of teachers and parents, some K-12 students came all the way from the Palm Bay Academy for the Youth Chinese Test (YCT).

The USF-CI has coordinated and administered HSK(K) and YCT tests twice a year in the middle of spring and fall semesters. (Information for the 2017 tests is available here. The test takers ranged from elementary school students to working adults up to 50 years old. The number of test takers (especially for YCT) increased steadily over the last few years, to more than a hundred each year. The CI is grateful to the following schools for hosting the YCT tests in recent years: Lake Highland Prep School in Orlando, Pine View School in Sarasota and Saint Stephens Episcopal School in Bradenton.

Passing the HSK(K) tests is a requirement for applying for CI and other scholarships to study in China. Many students from USF and other Florida colleges have taken the tests and benefited from the CI Scholarships. Click here to learn more information about the CI Scholarship.
