Florida 2010 Chinese Bridge Delegation A Success
December 10, 2010

Supported by Hanban / Confucius Institute Headquarters in China, fourteen Florida educators participated in the 2010 Winter Chinese Bridge Delegation led by the USF Confucius Institute from December 2nd – 10th, 2010.

The purpose of the trip was to provide Florida educators with a personal experience of the Chinese language and culture, and to connect with K-12 schools in China. The delegation visited historical and cultural sites in Beijing and Henan, including the World Heritage sites of the Forbidden City (Palace Museum), the Shaolin Temple, and the Longmen Grottoes.
They visited one elementary school and two secondary schools in Zhengzhou, and were impressed by the size of each class which held around 60 students. They were treated to student performances and had the opportunity to engage in a discussion with Kun Shi, USF CI director and group leader, on ways to develop and improve existing Chinese programs.

Thanks to Hanban and local organizers in Henan, every Florida delegate had a memorable time in China and has shown the eagerness to move their Chinese programs to a higher level.
