February 14, 2011

USF currently has a pipeline of students who are developing their proposals for the Fulbright UK which is only for current freshman and sophomores with at least two years left in school. Fulbright is looking for students who have not been out of the country before; they must have a passport at the time of application and be US citizens (not permanent residents). The deadline for final submission is April 15; USF’s internal deadline is March 10.  The office of National Scholarships is offering workshops on Feb 21 at 9:30 and 11:30 for Freshies and Sophomores where there will be more recruitment for this particular scholarship. To sign up for the workshop send an email to

Participants in these programs will get the opportunity to experience an exciting academic program at a highly regarded UK University, explore the culture, heritage and history of the UK and develop their academic ability by improving presentation, research and communication skills.

There are three Summer Programs available for U.S. students in 2011:
• Fulbright Commission Newcastle University Summer Institute
• Fulbright Commission Roehampton University London Summer Institute
• Fulbright Commission Wales Summer Institute

The Summer Institute will cover the majority of the participant costs. This includes round-trip airfare from the US to the UK, tuition and fees at the University, accommodation and social program and subsistence e.g. food and drink
